About the Korea Hourly Wage Calculator

Use 'From hourly wage' to enter a wage, days per week and hours per day, and get the weekly holiday allowance, weekly pay, monthly pay and annual pay. 'From salary' takes a monthly (or annual) salary and the monthly working hours and gives the hourly wage and daily pay. All amounts are before tax and social insurance, in Korean won, and exclude overtime, night and holiday premiums.

Frequently asked questions

How is the weekly holiday allowance calculated in Korea?

If you are scheduled for 15 or more hours a week and attend every scheduled day of that week, you get one paid day off (the weekly holiday). Paid holiday hours = scheduled weekly hours ÷ 40 × 8 (maximum 8). The allowance = paid holiday hours × hourly wage.

How is monthly pay worked out?

Monthly working hours = (weekly hours + paid holiday hours) × 365 ÷ 7 ÷ 12, rounded. For a 40 hour week that is (40 + 8) × 4.345 = about 209 hours. Monthly pay = hourly wage × monthly hours.

What if I work less than 15 hours a week?

No weekly holiday allowance is due, so paid holiday hours are set to 0.

What is the minimum wage?

The Korean minimum wage is announced every year by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Because it changes, it is not built into this tool; look up the latest figure and type it in.

Is this the amount I take home?

No. These are pre-tax amounts; income tax and social insurance are deducted before you are paid.

Is what I enter stored on a server?

No. Everything is calculated inside your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to or stored on any server.
